Eating Healthy..the ripple effect
So I bought vegies and eliminated all sweets from my house. The kids are fine with this because they love cereal and that for some reason is not a big temptation for me. Once I found the snack food for them that I do not want life got so much easier. But check this out.
I bought lettuce and tomatoes because I love salad and I don’t miss cheese on my sandwhiches when there is lettuce and tomato. I make nachos with a few chips and lots of lettuce and tomatoes. So the kids come home from school (they are 12, 11, 9 and 6) and they are ready to empty the cereal cabinet. I was late with lunch and made a salad with a few blue nacho chips on nachos for my self. I left the kitchen for them to fend for themselves thinking it was going to be cereal. Next thing you know it I come into the kitchen and every kid is sitting there with a big huge salad for after school snack and loving it! Oh yeah, and my youngest 6 year old had a sliced up apple also (my daughter helped out with this one).
I always said I was doing this to be able to be more active with my kids. Ripple……I am also creating healthy eaters along the way. They won’t be growing boys for ever and loving a good salad will be so important to them when they are older.
I headed out to the store and bought 4 heads of lettuce!
